Bayer MaterialScience raises prices for TPU resins

Leverkusen – Effective June 1, 2007, Bayer MaterialScience AG is raising the sales prices for Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPU) resins in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Region by EUR 0.30 per kilogram.

Bayer MaterialScience considers the TPU resins business a specialty growth business, characterised by continuous product development, innovation and investment in production capacities in line with market growth.

The ongoing dramatic increase in raw materials and energy costs has to this date been absorbed by Bayer MaterialScience. Significant measures to improve efficiency have not been able to compensate for the effect of the steadily rising cost level.

To ensure the rapid growth of this specialty market, continuous investment in research and development, production plants and customer support is necessary. With this price increase and future pricing, Bayer MaterialScience wants to safeguard its ability to provide sufficient resources for the TPU resins business and its customers.
